Why right to repair belongs in farm technology
A drone that works remotely should not require a distant gatekeeper for every fix.
Farm equipment earns trust by staying useful through dust, weather, vibration, and long distances from a service counter. A drone is no exception. If it supports real work on working land, repairability is an operational feature: it affects downtime, cost, confidence, and whether your team can rely on it when the mission matters.
Remote work changes the math
A failed motor, damaged landing leg, worn connector, or depleted battery may be hours from outside service. Modular hardware, accessible fasteners, documented components, clear diagnostics, and stocked replacement parts shorten downtime and make local expertise useful. Those are design choices—not afterthoughts.
Software should be understandable too
Repair includes the digital system. Operators should know where mission data lives, how to export it, what the aircraft is reporting, and how field findings connect to their workflow. Clear interfaces protect the farm from becoming dependent on a black box for ordinary decisions.
